Speaking on Sunday on Punchline show aired on K24 TV, the renowned lawyer claimed corruption cases that were being brought forth by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) were not well-investigated, making it difficult to get a conviction.

He opined that the cases were being prosecuted in court to make it look as if something was being done about corruption.

"I think the cases they are bringing to court are not well investigated. I think the cases they are bringing to court is to make it look to the country and to the people like there is a big war going on," Senator Orengo said.

He said the best way to ensure that corruption is fought is to take to court strong cases that can yield convictions.

"I think the war against corruption should be like a guided missile because when they miss the target they take a long time to bring them again," he opined.

The war on corruption appears to have gained more steam in the Head of State's second and final term.

During the State of the Nation address early this year, President Kenyatta said he will not spare those engaging in graft as part of his legacy.

In his second term, a number of high profile individuals have been arrested and arraigned in court.

Among those charged with corruption are Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal.
