Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has declared her stand on the Punguza Mizigo referendum push.
In an exclusive interview on KTN’s Point Blank show, Waiguru said that she is not ready to support the proposals by Thirdway Alliance Party leader Ekuro Aukot because they are rooting for the reduction of the number of women in elective positions.
She said that women need to be considered in any form of government and the Punguza Mizigo proposal has not done so.
The county boss poked holes in the proposals by the former presidential candidate, arguing that his push for a referendum is dead on arrival.
“I disagree with #PunguzaMizigo, they want to reduce numbers but their target of reduction is women,” she said.
Waiguru also said that she supports the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
She noted that the union of the two leaders has changed a lot of things in the country.
She also hinted that the Mt Kenya region is likely to stand with Raila in 2022 as long as he remembers to include the leaders from the region in his government. She further said Raila is not only her friend but also a political icon.
“I needed to let Raila Odinga know that I support his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta,” she added.
