Matiang’i raided the place after concerns were raised over the issuance of birth certificates.

During the operation at the office, Matiang’i ordered police to arrest the brokers who masterminded the multimillion saga and sacked two senior officers.

The CS assured Kenyans that he will not sit back and watch employees take advantage of them when they deserve to be treated in the right.

"Kenyans deserve unconditional citizen services wherever they are in the country. We will shake the Department of Civil Registration to its bone-marrow in addressing concerns raised regarding issuance of birth certificates," he said.

He caught the bosses of different departments unawares when he stormed the place. He was welcomed by unmanned and unmarked counters when he made his way to the officers.

He also ordered all the officers at the office to report to work over the weekend to ensure that they deliver on their mandate failure to which he said an unspecified action will be taken against them.

He added that he will not tolerate any form of laxity at the office during his tenure in office.

“People should be coming in and immediately they should have someone verify that all their documents are in order," CS Matiang’i said. He also reminded the cartels that their days are numbered.
