Machakos police have arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly killing his 24-year-old nephew in Kyangala village Kalama sub-county of Machakos County.
The suspect Mulwa Mutua, is accused of stabbing the young man on the chest after a squabble on Thursday.
The incident was confirmed by area chief Benson Mwangangi who told this writer that the suspect had been arrested.
"I was called by the family members where I found the young man dead. I told them that since it was murder, the police needed to be informed. The lad had a deep wound on the chest near the heart," said Mwangangi on phone.
The police were able to recover the murder weapon in a bucket in the suspect's bedroom.
The chief advised residents not to take the law into their own hands whenever they confront one another.
"There are many ways to solve family squabbles without injuring or killing each other. Residents should learn to solve their issues without citing a crime," he said.
The man is held at Machakos police station awaiting arraignment.
The body was taken to Machakos level five hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting postmortem.
