Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has laid bare some of the reasons behind his exit from ODM in the run-up to 2013 polls.
The MP served in the presidential campaign wing of the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga-led party for 11 months before leaving and now says that he was disappointed in ODM.
Speaking on Sunday on K24, he revealed that he was treated to tribalism in the party.
Being a Kikuyu, he said, he found it hard staying on in the party as people treated him with suspicion, at a time when members of his community were allied to the rival side.
"Even in ODM people asked me wewe ni Mkikuyu, unafanya nini huku? Then I decided am going to Central to work from there," he said.
He, however, noted that at no point was he an ODM member, but was approached to serve in the party.
"I worked in the presidential campaign for 11 months. I was never in ODM before and I was not in ODM when I left," he added.
He has since reunited with Uhuru, resulting in his 2017 win on a Jubilee Party ticket.
