Comedian Chipukeezy on Thursday sent an emotional message to South Africans amid the rise of xenophobic attacks in the country.
The comedian through his Instagram page pleaded with South Africans to stop the attacks and instead invest in the fight against corruption, oppression, economic and mental slavery.
Chipukeezy who also doubles up as a TV presenter termed the attacks as not only uncalled for but also uncultured.
He noted that peace and freedom should be the order of the day as neither of the two can exist on its own.
The comedian even went ahead to quote one of Africa's top musician, Burna Boy, who once said that any black man should always remember that he was African before anything else.
"Dear South Africans, I have never been in your country but whatever is happening in your country is totally uncalled for and uncultured! Africans are inherently loving and welcoming. I plea unto you to wake up from the sleep you have been put to! Wake up, see, fight and free yourselves from the real enemies of growth and progression; that is Corruption, Oppression, Economic/Mental slavery(being programmed) lest you turning on each other. You can't separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom!!! We pray to God that He may open your eyes and see. As @burnaboygram mother said; "Any Black man should PLEASE REMEMBER that you were Africans BEFORE YOU WERE ANYTHING ELSE!!! We are one, We are Black," Chipukeezy's Instagram post read.
Other celebrities who have also come out to condemn the xenophobic attacks include Harmonize, Zari Hassan and Akothee.
