Kandara MP Alice Wahome has expressed displeasure following the arrest of Social Media Guru Denis Itumbi over the fake letter in the alleged plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto
Speaking in Garissa during a fundraiser on Friday, Wahome dared the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti to make good his threat of probing members of the TangaTanga WhatsApp Group.
The lawmaker said that she is ready to record a statement over the alleged assassination of the second in command
She criticised the DCI over what she termed as arbitrary arrests as the detectives dig deeper into the matter.
The legislator, who has been vocal on matters of national interest, said that it is unfortunate that the detectives have embarked on the outer circle when the Cabinet Secretaries linked to the alleged plot to eliminate Ruto have not been grilled in depth.
“Badala ya kuchunguza maneno ambayo Deputy President alisema, yeye anaanza kumpeleka kijana mdogo eti kwa sababu ya ile maneno ya Facebook na WhatsApp Group eti mshitakiwe vijana kama 256. Kwa hivyo group ya tangatanga movement kama wanataka kushtaki waanze na Alice Muthoni Wahome. (Instead of investigating what Deputy President said, he has arrested a young man because of Facebook and WhatsApp Group. He wants 256 young men charged. In the Tangatanga WhatsApp Group if they want to arraign anyone in court let them start with Muthoni Wahome),” the MP said.
Itumbi is in police custody and was last week arraigned over the letter detectives have declared fake.
When he appeared in court, Itumbi said he has a video of the La Mada Hotel meeting in which a plot to assassinate Ruto was discussed.
