In a press conference in Nairobi, Mating’i said action will be taken against any leader who will interfere with the process.

He claimed he is aware of a plan to disrupt the exercise once it kicks off.

“Some of these primitive habits that some political leaders have lived with for a long time like moving people around should stop! This is affecting the way in which our people live,” he said.

Matiang'i divulged that the enumerators will be accompanied by security officers throughout the exercise to ensure they are safe.

He maintained that entertainment areas will remain closed during the census exercise, adding that Kenyans should corporate with the enumerators during the process, for accurate and reliable results.

“Enumerators will be accompanied by security personnel (who will be in full uniform and can identify themselves). No one has been hired to enumerate people out of their sub-locations It is your right, as a citizen, to demand they identify themselves,” he added.
