Malava Member of Parliament Moses Malulu Injendi has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of abandoning supporters of his reelection bid, and embracing his opponents in the 2017 polls.
Injendi said Uhuru's handshake with ODM leader Raila Odinga, was what has made the Head of State to 'forget' his support bases, and crossing over to the opposition zones.
“President Kenyatta has forgotten the people who stood with him in 2017, and instead turned to work and support those who were opposed to his leadership,” he said as quoted by the Nation.
The Jubilee MP made the remarks in Mumias on Saturday during a rally organised by Western Kenya leaders to address economic issues facing the populous region.
Injendi claimed Western Kenya has not benefited from any major development project from the Jubilee administration, despite its overwhelming support for Uhuru's reelection in 2017.
Citing various projects the government has initiated in Raila's Nyanza backyard, the MP implored Uhuru to also consider Western, where he claimed residents were living in abject poverty.
"It is unfortunate that a lot of development is being allocated to Nyanza who never voted for you (President Kenyatta) in the repeat (2017) presidential polls while Western that supported you is languishing in poverty," Injendi said.
The rally at Nabongo Mumia grounds was attended by MPs Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Dan Wanyama (Webuye West), Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), John Waluke (Sirisia) and Matungu's Justus Murunga.
Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa and former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale were also present.
