Orange Democratic Movement deputy leader Hassan Joho maintains that Imran Okoth will triumph in Kibra by-election, 'no matter what'.
The ODM party is facing stiff competition from rival parties among them NASA siblings ANC and Ford Kenya, which have fielded candidates.
But the intriguing part is Jubilee party's decision to field retired footballer McDonald Mariga, and subsequent endorsement by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday.
While addressing journalists on Wednesday, Joho said the ODM party has out an elaborate plan to win the seat that was left vacant following the death of Ken Okoth.
“Kibra elections will be peaceful and Imran Okoth of ODM will finally be declared new MP. We have an elaborate plan as a party," he said.
The Mombasa governor added: "I have campaigned in by-elections and we have experience. I will pitch tent in Kibra. There is nothing wrong with the president endorsing a member of his party."
Joho has been instrumental in the party. He is seen as the force behind the recent decision by a number of coastal governors to snub DP William Ruto who toured the region last week.
His statement comes moments after Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino faulted President Kenyatta's decision to support Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga.
The first term legislator warned ODM leader Raila Odinga against the handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, arguing that the president could be during him.
"Baba must be very careful with this thing called Handshake. No fruits so far. We can’t be duped twice. President Uhuru must be genuine with this handshake.
"Baba we must be very careful and if the 'marriage' is void because one party is incompetent for being in a subsisting marriage or voidable because it’s not consummated then we must be out very fast. We need not lie to each other and in return their intention is to embarrass you. Jubilee must never and will never win Kibra," he added
