Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika on Monday visited families in Molo that lost their property following a Tuesday last week's fire incident.
In a post on her official Facebook page after the visit, the vocal Senator hit out at the Nakuru County Government for failing to respond to the fire incident on time.
Kihika, in the post, pointed out that it was unfortunate that even after millions were used to purchase fire engines by the governor Lee Kinyanjui administration, they were not used to help the locals.
The fire gutted at least 20 houses in Molo.
"Earlier today I visited eight families in Molo that lost their property in a fire. Spent with the families whose only prayer is that the fire engine bought by the county government should be at hand to deal with such disasters promptly. It is a shame that even after spending millions the engine was nowhere to salvage the situation," read part of Kihika's Facebook post.
Following the fire incident, the county government has been on the spot due to the fact that it acquired modern fire engines barely two months ago.
Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui while unveiling the new fire engine had said it would be stationed in the township and will be used to address rampant incidents of fires in Molo, Elburgon and Kuresoi areas.
