Lari residents have something to smile about after the launch of Uplands police station.
The Sh4.5 million community project was launched on Friday at Uplands, by the Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Ndegwa Muhoro .
Speaking while launching it Muhoro said that the new station will enhance security in the area.
“ We are aware that Kiambu residents have been crying over high level of insecurity. This station is expected to boost security in this area,” said Muhoro .
Muhoro said that the launch of the police station was in line with government's structure to improve security in the whole country.
The police station is a community funded project with assistance of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and local private investors.
The police station will now have a new OCS who will oversee its operations.
James Mwangi a boda boda operator from Lari thanked the combined effort that saw the construction of the station saying that it would help in reducing crimes in the area.
“ We are happy to have a police station. This will help us to transform our economy since we expect to work up to late night,” said Mwangi .
Stephen Kimani, a parent, urged the officers in the new post to deal with illicit liquor which has been a menace in the area.
