Photo/business dailyIn the next twelve months 450 building and construction technicians will engage themselves in a programme hosted by HF Group (HFCK) in partnership with a German agency to give them the necessary training they need for construction and building.
Through its foundation HF Group and the German Co-operation for International Development (GIZ) agreed to source for trainees from technical training institutions (TIVET) and universities across Kenya thereby enabling students acquire market-driven skills.HF Group Foundation member Caroline Armstrong emphasized that the 60 trainee-graduates would enjoy first priority in future projects conducted by HF Group. She said this while speaking at the industrial park in Nairobi.She continued to say “Our programme seeks to emphasise uptake of market-driven courses that ensure graduates get jobs upon completion of their training".The artisans received training on masonry, plumbing and electrical installation giving them an opportunity to apply knowledge learnt in college.She added engagement with the students enabled private companies to add their input to the TIVET curriculum thereby giving students the much-needed practical skills.The initiative by HF Foundation seeks to improve building and construction capacity among the youths.
