Leaders in Machakos County have sent their condolence messages following the death of Catholic priest Father Michael Kyengo.
Matungulu Member of Parliament Stephen Mule eulogised Father Kyengo as a respected man who had no enmity with anyone.
"It's sad for the people of Matungulu where father Kyengo hailed from. We are saddened by the brutal murder of the priest and wish that the motive of his murder will be known," said Mule in an exclusive interview.
Kangundo Member of Parliament Fabian Muli stated that the investigations on the murder should be hastened and the culprits brought to book.
"Those found culpable should be punished, why would anyone kill a priest who did nothing but serve God," said Muli.
Former Masinga parliamentary seat aspirant Lawrence Maingi stated that the priest lived peacefully with everyone, adding that as Masinga residents they believe that the police will handle the matter well.
He hailed the CID officers from Nairobi who took up the matter when it was first reported.
"We are confident justice will be served to Masinga people and Machakos as a whole," he said.
Father Michael went missing last week and his body was found on Tuesday buried in a shallow grave in Kiritiri, Embu.
Reports indicate that he was waylaid on his way back to Thatha from Tala where he had been on leave.
