The meeting which happened at the former Prime Minister's Capitol Hill office was revealed by the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition on its Twitter handle.

"H.E @RailaOdinga congratulated newly appointed CAS Peter Odoyo who paid him a courtesy call at Capitol Hill Square," NASA wrote on its Twitter handle.

It was not immediately clear what the agenda of the meeting of the two was.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday last week named Peter Odoyo as the CAS in the Ministry of Defence in the latest reorganisation of his government.

Odoyo will work under the newly appointed Defence Cabinet Secretary Amb Monica Juma, who was moved from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He was among the CASs who were sworn in last week at State House in the port city of Mombasa.

President Uhuru Kenyatta told the CASs during the swearing-in ceremony to be driven by the interest of the people of Kenya.

Security remains a challenge and a top priority of the Uhuru administration in the wake of a spate of terror attacks.

Peter Odoyo will be a part of the team that will help the head of state in developing a policy framework that will guide the country as it grapples with a litany of security challenges.
