A 25-year-old woman on Tuesday evening committed suicide by hanging herself in a rental house in Matuu, Yatta sub-county of Machakos count.
The incident was confirmed by Yatta sub-county commander of police Joseph Karanja who said that the body of the young lady was found by neighbours dangling in the bathroom.
Karanja told the press that according to the suicide letter left behind by the deceased is that she took the decision after her boyfriend left her.
"The letter addressed to her parents, she said that she chose to end her life after her boyfriend left her and she could not take it anymore," said Karanja.
He noted that the body was picked and taken to Yatta funeral home for preservation.
The police boss decried cropping up suicide cases in the region and more so among youths.
He urged residents to find people to talk to in case they are burdened by issues.
Karanja urged parents to have a close relationship with their kids and take serious issues they bring forward.
"Let's speak out when issues trouble us find someone you can trust and tell it all whether parents, religious leaders or even counsellors," he said.
