In a total contrast of his function, Dr Ruto was seemingly prepared to skip hard local politics, only shifting his focus on lecturing the graduands.

Ruto said the goverment is keen to construct technical colleges in every constituency, adding that the move will help the goverment to absorb form four leavers.

"As a government, we are keen to ensure that all constituencies are having a technical training college. This is what we are determined to do," he said.

"This will help us in fully transitioning our children once they finish secondary school education. It's important to have them equipped with skills."

The DP also said education ministry should look for a way of reducing the number of years students spend in college, rooting for 18 months courses in diploma.

"We cannot have students taking three years in school. This is something that should be changed immediately. 18 months are enough to complete the course."

He was accompanied by Dr Joash Maangi, MPs Richard Tong'i, Sylvanus Osoro, Shadrack Mose, Vincent Kemosi. The team has been leading Tanga Tanga campaigns.

Governors John Nyagarama and James Ongwae who have been leading Pro-Matiang'i campaigns skipped the event.
