Both Ngilu and Wambua want the office of the Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai, to probe what led to the mysterious fire that led to the loss of property worth billions.

On Monday, the Senator allegedly said that he had talked to IG Mutyambai over the matter and wanted the county boss held responsible over the incident. Wambua affirmed that he had information that Ngilu, who is out of the country on official duties, had hatched a plot to burn the offices.

The senator said that he is not against the leadership of the county boss, but wants the culprits behind the incident arrested and charged in the court of law with immediate effect.

He also said that Ngilu has proven beyond doubt that she cannot deliver on the promises she made to the people of the county when she was seeking election into office.

In response, Ngilu said that it is evident that the Senator knows the cause of the fire, adding that he should come forth and make the matter known to the police.

She also accused the Senator of undermining her leadership since she took over the post following the defeat of immediate former Governor Jackson Malombe under the Jubilee ticket.

“Tellingly, Kitui County Senator Kioo Wambua and a few busybodies have already issued public statements with conclusions on the fire.  He (Wambua) and his cheering squad seem to know the cause of the fire, the motive and even who the suspects might be,” she said.
