Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has decried the increased number of youths who are jobless calling for the set up a national youth scheme.
Speaking in Kisii town over the weekend, the lawmaker argued that counties in collaboration with the national government should put more efforts to reduce the number of jobless youths.
"A national youth scheme should be put in place to help our youths to get contracts in the counties and national government. There are a lot of literate young people out there who have no jobs and through the national scheme I believe the lives of our youths will change," he stated.
The Ford Kenya Party allied lawmaker maintained that he supports the Building Bridges Initiative adding that inclusivity in governance is all that is needed in this country.
Onyonka said that he is happy the BBI recommendations favour the youth.
"The BBI proposes youth inclusivity in matters governance. I call on the youth to throw their weight behind the BBI and ignore a section of politicians playing petty politics about the BBI," he added.
The MP regretted that parents have invested more in their children education but in return, they lack jobs when they complete their education from colleges and universities.
