Kisii County Assembly members through the leader of minority James Ondari have confirmed readiness to debate over 'Punguza Mizigo' Bill which is being pushed by Third Way Alliance leader Dr Ekuro Aukot.
Ondari, who doubles as Boochi Tendere ward MCA, said once the Bill will be tabled at the Assembly, the MCAs will not boycott sittings.
"As Kisii MCAs we are ready to debate over the Bill which is aimed at changing the constitution. Kisii County residents will be involved through public participation forums to give views accordingly before MCAs will either pass the Bill or pull it down," said Ondari as reported by Egesa FM.
The ward representative maintained that Kisii MCAs are not opposed to constitutional amendments but said the changes in the constitution should benefit all Kenyans and not few individuals.
"No one among the MCAs in Kisii is opposed to Kenyans going to a referendum but changing the constitution should be done for the benefit poor Kenyans not few greedy leaders who want to create positions for themselves," he noted.
Further, the vocal ward representative reiterated that the MCAs are fully supporting the war on graft arguing that embezzlement of public funds will derail development across the county.
Kisii County is perceived to be a stronghold for opposition ODM and Mr Raila Odinga recently urged his troops to reject the bill. He said that only BBI will solve Kenya's problems.
