Mombasa governor Hassan Joho revealed that Kenyans embraced handshake because they wanted to change their trajectory, social and economic system.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Joho said that handshake was meant to promote the way governance is handled in the country.
"As Kenyans we embraced the handshake because we knew we had to change our trajectory, social and economic system and the way we are governed," Joho said.
Orange Democratic Movement deputy party leader also took the opportunity to invite all those that will be willing to attend Building Bridges Initiative rally that is to be held on Saturday at Tononoka grounds, Mombasa.
"This coming Saturday I welcome all Kenyans and leaders irrespective of their affiliations to join us at Tononoka Grounds, Mombasa as we further forge our focus on the productive agenda of the BBI that aims to help our nation achieve a shared prosperity," He said
This happen after DP Ruto's allies agreed to attend the rally despite the fact that they previously discriminated how the rally was held by ODM leaders earlier, in both Kisii and Kakamega.
They accused ODM leaders for using the BBI rally podium in re-organizing their 2022 political positions, instead of using it in creating awareness about BBI report among the citizens.
