Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to implement Justice Ndung'u report on land before evicting squatters from Mau forest.
For years now, successive governments have failed to implement the report, with claims that prominent people are behind the delayed implementation.
At Turbo on Friday, Dr Khalwale dragged the families of the retired President Daniel Moi, former powerful minister Simon Nyachae and former Kuresoi MP Zakayo Cheruiyot to the Mau forest land grabbing.
He asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to flush the three prominent people and others named in the report before kicking out squatters from the water catchment area.
"Mr President, I am not opposing the forest conservation. We must at all times conserve our forests. That doesn't mean Mau alone. We shall also do it in Kakamega and Elgon. But before you flush the poor, visit Ndung'u report.
"It has listed people with illegal land in Mau. Daniel Moi has more than 2300 Hectares, Simon Nyachae has over 300 Ha, Zakayo Cheruiyot has over 100. Start by evicting them before you descend on the poor," he said.
The government is set to flush out over 10,000 families in Phase two eviction, an exercise that has been met with resistance from Rift Valley leaders.
Rift Valley Regional Coordinator George Natembeya last week said they are waiting for Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko's nod to carry out the exercise.
“We are ready for the second phase of the eviction. We have deployed sufficient personnel on the ground to carry out the eviction,” he said.
