Speaking on Sunday, he noted that Khalwale was wrong to fight people who did not want him in their region, after going there to campaign for a Jubilee candidate in an ODM zone.

"First, let me apologise on behalf of Boni Khalwale for what he did (Kwanza, nataka kuomba msamaha kwa niaba ya Khalwale kwa kitu alichofanya hapa Kibra)," he said.

The ODM Deputy Party Leader made the remarks in Kibra's DC's Grounds, in a thanksgiving rally for its candidate Imran Okoth, who won the race.

However, Khalwale while speaking in his Kakamega backyard, said that the goons, who also attacked Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, also went after Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali.

However, he said that the National Assembly Majority Whip managed to get away, blaming the police for failing to act as Jubilee Party lawmakers were roughed up by rowdy youth.

The incidences have also been criticised by Deputy President William Ruto,  who has directly linked them to ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

"As Kenyans we demand that Tinga/his party unconditionally, unequivocally and publicly RENOUNCE the culture of violence, chaos, terror and gangsterism their signature modus operandi as witnessed in Kibra and unreservedly apologise to victims past and present for their hurt and loss," he tweeted on Saturday.
