When he rose to speak, Ruto talked about Kenyans and their leaders coming together and focusing on development for the good of the country.

He also called on Kenyans not to worry as the country was in the hands of God.

"Tuendelee kuombea nchi yetu. Kenya is safe in the hands of God. Nobody should worry about anything. Tulikubaliana kama viongozi kama vile Mathayo tano tisa inasema, hero wapatanishi), " the Deputy President said.

His words come hardly two weeks after President Uhuru Kenyatta launched into a tirade over politicians moving around the country, engaging in politics instead of working for those who elected them.

His address at the Karen church was a departure from his hard-hitting speeches in the past where he has hit out at his political adversary Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.

Ruto was joined by other political leaders including Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.

He, however, did not address the growing controversy over an alleged assassination plot hatched by a section of Cabinet Secretaries.
