Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader and Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has reaffirmed that he will vie for the presidency in the 2022 general elections.
Speaking on KTN's Point blank show on Wednesday night, Mutua said that though Raila has not declared his candidature, he is sure that both Raila and Ruto will also be on the ballot.
"Remember Uhuru Kenyatta is not running for Presidency, Raila I believe and I sense that he is going to run for the presidency, Ruto is running for presidency. Mutua has to defeat both of them in one way or another so that we can change this country," Mutua said.
Governor Mutua is serving his second and last term as governor and various opinion polls have ranked him as one of the top-performing county bosses in the country, a factor which he is likely to use as a weapon in his presidential quest.
Mutua's sentiments also come at a time when the 2022 succession politics has already gathered momentum especially in the ruling Jubilee Party where Deputy President William Ruto has already declared his presidential ambitions.
Ruto's presidency has, however, been opposed by a section of Jubilee Party members affiliated to Kieleweke.
