The National Athletics trials came to a conclusion on Friday, afternoon at the Nyayo national stadium, in a two days thrilling event that culminated to the naming of 47 track and field athletes.
They will represent Kenya at the 2019 world championships slated for Dohar, Qatar; starting September 27 to October 6.
In the men's 5000M race, the winner Michael Kibet and runners-up Daniel Simuyu failed to make it to the team on what Athletic Kenya termed as the duo's failure to meet all anti-doping requirements set by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).
Athletics Kenya was forced to give the slot to the third finisher, Nicholas Kimeli while the two slots will be filled later.
In addition, there was six wild cards given to athletes, courtesy of them being the world champion and Diamond league winners.
Meanwhile, 800M world record holder, David Rudisha will miss the championship due to knee injury.
