Kileleshwa MCA Elias Otieno has been de-whipped formally as the Nairobi County Assembly Minority Leader after weeks of wrangles, ODM party has confirmed.
The second term MCA has been leading NASA troops in the assembly and played a key role in the reinstatement of Speaker Beatrice Elachi.
But on Thursday, over 43 MCAs signed a petition for his ouster, accusing him of supporting Eliud Owalo during Kibra campaigns.
Mr Owalo, a former ally of Raila Odinga, finished third during the polls. Otieno is also accused of disrespecting Woman Representative Esther Passaris.
ODM party on Friday confirmed that Otieno had since been replaced by Karen MCA David Mberia, who served as Majority Whip in the last assembly.
"The Party has today designated Karen MCA Hon. David Njilithia Mberia as the new Minority Leader in the Nairobi County Assembly," the party said.
"In the last Assembly, he served as the Majority Whip. We wish Mr Mberia all the best in his new appointment #MbelePamoja.." It added.
Nairobi assembly has been witnessing endless wrangles that started after the temporary eviction of Speaker Elachi. Majority Leader Abdi Guyo was also removed by Jubilee.
Last week, Governor Mike Sonko wrote to President Uhuru Kenyatta, asking him to help quell the chaos among MCAs.
