A section of Block Ten residents in Moiben Sub-County has decried increased insecurity in the estate.
Led by Dominic Korir who is the residents' spokesperson, they decried increased break-ins and muggings.
“As Block Ten residents we are disappointed with the increased insecurity. Yesterday, Saturday night, a group of ten young gangsters armed with a machete, talimbos, and panga’s terrorized us stealing valuables such as electronics, gases, mobile phones, and money,” said Korir.
Korir who spoke to Hivisasa on Sunday in the estate said residents are now living in fear not knowing what to do and who to turn to since no one is ready to listen to them.
He said that the area sub-chief’s wife was also attacked and is now nursing injuries in the hospital.
“We are calling on the County Commissioner, County Commander, and all security apparatus to act at speed since residents' property is stolen, people injured. If the business will be as usual we will take the law into our hand,” added Korir.
Korir pointed an accusing finger on the security agencies saying the response has been slow, calling in the County Commissioner to increase patrols in the area.
Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa in a rejoinder told Hivisasa on phone that he will enhance security by increasing the number of police officers on patrol.
