Police in Ruiru, Kiambu County woke up to the death of one of their own, who reportedly committed suicide inside his house on Saturday morning.
The officer is said to have taken his own life by hanging himself inside his house at the Ruiru Police Headquarters.
The incident was confirmed by area police boss Phineas Ringera, who added that the officer was set to be on duty today, before opting to cut his life short.
The police boss added that they are yet to establish reasons behind the move, adding that the deceased was aged between 40 and 50 years.
His body was moved to the Kenyatta University morgue.
Such happenings are not new in the county. Recently, a man killed his wife before turning to himself in Kiamumbi estate a few months ago.
Albert Mwangi struck his wife with a blunt object before taking poison, leaving behind a note where he blamed the actions on a rocky marriage with the woman.
He described her as a "Jezebel", who was planning to steal his property, alongside her brother, adding that he never knew that she was a bad woman while marrying her.
