In a statement seen by the Star newspaper, the Canadian-based lawyer also called for the government to be compelled to pay for the flights of his legal representatives to accompany him home.

"They should be compelled to buy return tickets for me and for at least some of my advocates and two officers of the KNHRC so that these officers and advocates can travel to wherever I am and accompany me to Kenya," reads his statement as quoted by the Star newspaper.

The development is the latest twist in a staggering drama pitting the government against Miguna Miguna.

Miguna was expected back into the country early this week but was ejected from an Air France plane after the Kenyan government issued airlines with a red alert against him.

An order issued by a Kenyan court of law has charged the government with the responsibility of facilitating the lawyer's return to the country.

He has been away for about two years after being forcefully deported to Canada over his prominent role in the mock inauguration of ODM leader Raila Odinga at the historic Uhuru Park grounds.
