According to Junet, Ruto has heavily turned to Twitter because he lacks other options of passing his message to the people.

“The tweets by the DP demonstrate that he has exhausted all avenues of communicating.. now he only has the netizens to engage,” he told the Standard on Sunday.

Over the past few weeks, the DP has been using the platform to hit out at his critics, inform his supporters of his meetings, and communicate his calendar.

Speaking to the same publication, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen defended the DP saying he uses Twitter because it is fast and effective.

"He does his own tweets. Despite making public pronouncements, the Twitter handle has served to reach many people and debunk untruths,” he said.

“Twitter is the new media. It has no editors and it is unfiltered. He uses it to correct misinformation. The message is sent faster to his supporters across the country," he added.
