Eldoret Diocese Apostolic Administrator Bishop Maurice Crowley has hit out at those spreading rumours about the alleged plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.
Addressing journalists at his office on Monday, Bishop Crowley said such claims are very sensitive and not good for the unity of the country, adding that they might take us to the 2007 post-election violence where many lives were lost.
"We don't know if the conspiracy to kill the deputy president claims are true because he disagreed with some individual but let us not spread such rumours because it might lead to bloodshed," said Bishop Crowley.
"If everyone will kill anyone they don't agree with we will have no country and the Bible is against killing. As Christians, let's pray for our leaders to avoid such things," he added.
He called on the security personnel to do thorough investigations in order to find out if the claims carry any water, adding that those found culpable should be brought to book.
Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya (Trade), Sicily Kariuki (Health), Joe Mucheru (ICT) and James Macharia (Transport) have been linked to the alleged plot. The CSs were on Monday, last week summoned by Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti over the matter.
