Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday had a rare opportunity to ride with President Uhuru Kenyatta on the same vehicle at Jamuhuri Show ground.
President Uhuru Kenyatta opened the Nairobi International Trade Fair show which is set to end on Sunday.
Uhuru made his entry with Sonko, as they waved to enthusiastic crowd that was standing by, with the two delivering speeches later on.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta arrives at the Jamhuri Park showground to preside over the official opening of the 2019 A.S.K Nairobi International Trade Fair whose theme is 'Promoting Innovation and Technology in Agriculture and Trade'" State House wrote.
Sonko said that his administration is focused on helping the youths, adding that technical training was part of his administration in a bid to empower the youthful people.
"This year, my administration has sponsored over 40 micro and small enterprises with more than twenty (20) products made in Kenya, compared to last year where there were only about ten (10) types of products," he said.
"About 70% of these are youth-led enterprises with products ranging from weaving, peanut butter and juice processors, glass cutting machines, leather products, furniture made from recycled materials, visual arts and paintings, alongside a host of other products."
Sonko is being pursued by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission over alleged embezzlement of funds. He only surfaced last week after many weeks of silence.
For months now, he has been at loggerheads with a number of his staff, suspending 16 of them last week following the tragedy at Precious Talent Academy that led to the death of 7 pupils.
