NTV reports that Ouma died on Wednesday after drinking three glasses of chang'aa in succession.

The drinking competition had six competitors and the deceased emerged the winner as he guzzled on the drinks without pausing.

However, his victory came at a cost as he lost his dear life. He passed out shortly after winning the illegal competition.

''These people were told to be given glasses. They were being given and they told him to drink without putting the glass down. This guy was drinking and when he finished he was added another one. (Sasa hawa watu wakaambiwa wawapatie glass. Sasa walikua wanawapea na wanamwambia kunywa bila kupumzika na kueka glass chini. Sasa huyu mtu alikua anaflash na kueka glass chini na wanamuongezea ingine),'' said one of the villagers in an NTV video shard on YouTube

According to the deceased's mother, Jackline Nabwire, Ouma drunk the alcohol without eating any food.

Efforts to save his life after passing out were dimmed as he was pronounced dead on arrival at Busia Hospital.

Two of his friends, who also passed out were rushed to the hospital where they received treatment. The two are alive and walking.

The body was taken to Sega Mission Hospital Mortuary.
