Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has warned of an alleged plot to engage in mischief in the Kibra parliamentary election, claiming that some people are planning to rig in their candidate.
Speaking when she joined the ODM brigade in campaigning for Imran Okoth in Kibra on Sunday, she claimed that the plan is being put in place by the Jubilee Party brigade.
She urged ODM supporters to be vigilant, claiming that a plot is in place by the Jubilee side to spend millions of shillings in buying votes in favour of Jubilee's McDonald Mariga.
"They are planning to buy votes. We have decided that we will close hotels and industrial parks here in Kibra. We will ensure the manifesto succeeds here,” said the county boss.
She joined fellow Ukambani governors Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) in helping ODM leader Raila Odinga with the campaigns.
Kibwana termed Kibra an ODM zone, further noting that all politicians who mean well for the country should side with Imran Okoth.
He also added that they believe in Raila's leadership and his pledge to better the nation, adding that though it is yet to materialize, he is personally ready for the journey.
"This is the safe seat of ODM. When people speak of Canaan, we are ready. It took 40 years,” said the county boss.
Also present was Raila, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, Jubilee Party Nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda and a host of ODM politicians.
The mini poll is slated for November 7.
