Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i, is a clean man, ODM leader Raila Odinga has said.
Speaking on Friday at Manga Isecha in Kitutu Chache North, Kisii County, during the burial of Samson Maina, Raila said that the CS has been under fire because of his firm stand on matters of national interest.
Raila, who doubles up as an African Union special envoy said that the CS has been a victim of endless criticism because of his incorruptible nature. He cited the case of fake gold scam that hit the country a few weeks ago.
Raila noted that the CS is competent and requires the support of Kenyans to deliver on his mandate before his term in office expires.
Raila insisted that those fighting the CS have no good plans for this nation.
“They are now tying him with chains to slow him down. We know them ... they will not succeed,” he said.
Raila had admitted that he flew to Emirates (UAE) where he met its ruler, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai over the gold scandal.
The scandal caused a storm in parliament after leaked audio put Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula on the spot on his role in the scam.
