Governor Anne Waiguru's confirmation on Sunday that there was indeed an outbreak of Cholera in Kirinyaga County attracted mixed reactions from Kenyan social media users.
Reports from Nation indicate that 3 people from the county were admitted with cholera.
358 others who were in contact with the sick on the other hand received preventative medicine.
Five food outlets were shut down following the outbreak of the disease.
A section of the netizens applauded the governor for coming clean on the matter citing that it would have been worse if the county government had downplayed the outbreak.
The Secretary-General of Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists' Union (KMPDU) Dr Ouma Oluga, on the other hand, blamed the situation at Kirinyaga county on the mistreatment of health workers.
A number of Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) pointed out that bad leadership is what should be blamed for the outbreak.
They argued that proper measures were not put in place to prevent the outbreak.
A group of the KOT went ahead to fault Governor Waiguru for concentrating on her recent showdown with popular musician King Kaka over the 'Wajinga Nyinyi' viral song in which her name is mentioned, instead of concentrating on issues affecting the county.
