Mr Senanu has revealed that the telecommunication firm will terminate employment of some of their employees but the figures are not 575 as earlier stated.

"First and foremost we are not 800, we are about 670. Secondly, that was a notice, legally if you check the laws we have to give a notice to staff that we intent to.

"So that was just a notice to say we are opening a consultation period which is a minimum of 30 days, during which we would then decide what happens. So that is what it was we didnt say we are retrenching 575," he said in a YouTube video

Telkom and Airtel have plans to merge in coming months. However, the number of employees who will be sacked will be revealed after various consultations.

Skilled employees who will fit in the merged venture will be taken in while those who will not meet the requirements of their new venture will be laid down.

According to Mr Senanu, the merge will allow them to make a much better, bigger and more efficient providing company.

The two have been out-shadowed by giant telecommunication providers Safaricom  PLC in all aspects of business.
