A Nyamira Court was Monday moved to tears after a man confessed beating and defiling his 18-month-old daughter.
The Court was told that Bernard Omayio had beaten the kid in the buttocks, causing physical injuries on her.
Omayio was charged before resident Magistrate Alice Towett that on September 27 at Nyamiacho Village in Bomwagamo, North Mugirango, he sexually molested the kid besides beating and injuring her.
Omayio who donned a black trench coat, cream pair of trousers and a bald shave, pleaded guilty to all the offenses.
Prosecution told the Court that on the said date, the mother left the kid with the man and went to pick coffee in a nearby farm.
Upon returning home at around 6.30pm, she found the daughter crying as the father bathed her as blood oozed from her genitalia upon close examination, an indication the daughter had been defiled.
The minor was rushed to Nyamira County Referral Hospital for treatment where she was discharged in stable condition the same day.
On Monday, the man was subjected to sentencing for the count of assault and causing actual bodily harm to the infant.
The Court directed that the suspect be produced on October 7 for sentencing on the two offences.
Omayio, an ex-convict told the Court that he never intended to harm the baby and that he was only exorcising some strange snake which he saw around the child.
It could not be immediately revealed by Prosecution the details of the accused person's previous conviction.
The Court demanded for a pre-sentencing report from the probation office before pronouncing the ultimate judgment.
