In a video shot on location in a section of the important water catchment area, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker said he would do the naming and shaming in his next video.

He said among those who have grabbed land in the forest are officials in former provincial administrations.

"In my next video, trying to educate Kenyans more about those people who grabbed land in the Mau Forest, I will be naming one by one so that we can be able to separate facts from fiction, " the outspoken legislator said. (2:08-2:25)

He said the second phase evictions in Mau would target big landowners in the forest.

His words come in the wake of an outcry from a section of Rift Valley political leaders who have called on the government to go slow on plans to evict settlers.

In a press conference over a week ago, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen contended that the planned eviction if implemented would trigger a huge humanitarian catastrophe.

He called for dialogue with the cabinet secretary for Environment Keriako Tobiko who maintains that the second phase eviction has to go on as scheduled.
