The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has flown to Canada amid tensions within the royal family over her decision with her husband Prince Harry to step back from royal duties, the Guardian newspaper has reported.
A spokesperson for the royal family member confirmed that she had travelled to North America but did not say how long she would be staying there.
“I can confirm she is in Canada, " the spokesperson said as quoted by the Guardian.
The Time Magazine reported that she had travelled to be with her son Harisson Mountbatten-Windsor, who is reportedly under the care of her friend.
There have been serious concerns that she has been unfairly treated by the British press because of her mixed-race, something that is said to be weighing heavily on her mental well-being.
Observers say that the decision to step back from the royal duties was consciously taken so as to avoid the harsh glare of the unsparing British press.
"After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution," the couple said when they announced their decision as quoted by the Metro publication.
