Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has predicted Nairobi County Governor Sonko's fate after his Friday afternoon arrest.
In a tweet, Khalwale noted that the city boss is likely to be barred from accessing his office.
''Gov Sonko will certainly be released on bond but remain barred from office. There being no D/Gov, Speaker Elachi will act but only for 60 days. A constitutional crisis looms as no election can be held thereafter since technically, Sonko will not have vacated office,'' saidKhalwale.
Khalwale has also predicted hard times for the county government of Nairobi citing the absence of a Deputy Governor.
Since Polycarp Igathe resigned in January 2018, Sonko has failed to appoint a deputy.
Sonko's arrest comes hours after the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Hajji ordered for his immediate arrest on Friday for alllegedly misusing public funds.
After his arrest, Sonko pointed out that he is more than ready to be taken to court and defend himself.
He urged his supporters and Nairobi residents to remain calm as he solves issues raised against him by EACC.
