Political analyst Ambrose Weda has faulted Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi over his recent remarks on President Uhuru Kenyatta's endorsement of Jubilee Kibra parliamentary hopeful McDonald Mariga.

Speaking in Nairobi two days ago, the former Vice President questioned the endorsement, claiming that Uhuru lacks interest in Mariga's candidature.

He claimed that judging by Uhuru's body language during the function at statehouse, it was clear that he wanted nothing to do with Mariga and his bid.

But Weda on Wedneaday found the remarks  baseless, especially coming from a man who once claimed to have been tricked by the same Uhuru, ahead of the 2013 presidential elections.

"How come he never read the body language when he was being cheated? How come he never saw it when he was being lied to that he would be given power?" he said.

Weda, also a member of the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) board, made the remarks on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation on Wednesday morning.

Mudavadi would later go it alone after claiming that Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto fooled him that they would support his bid. He appeared a distant third in the race.

Weda also faulted Mudavadi's attacks on Mariga's bid on grounds that he has never voted in his entire life, and is therefore not qualified to ask for anyone's vote.

According to Weda, also a High Court advocate, a leader of Mudavadi's caliber should come up with better methods of wooing voters for his party's aspirant Eliud Owalo.

"Mudavadi is a party leader who had a formidable candidate in the name of Owalo. He should know that attacking Mariga only gives his mileage," he advised.
