Kiambu Sports and Youth CEC Karungo wa Thang'wa has asked the county assembly to give him a chance to defend himself after an impeachment motion was tabled against him.
Thang’wa who is a close ally to Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu dismissed claims of misconduct saying that a section of the MCAs are using the motion to soil his reputation.
He said the accusations are politically motivated adding that he is innocent and can defend his ministry and his work if given a chance.
“In line with the constitutional principles of accountability and transparency. I welcome all media house to provide live coverage when I appear before the committee.”
“I promise I will not shy away from letting you know the truth,” said Thang'wa in a rejoinder.
The motion to impeach the Sports CEC was tabled by nominated MCA Margaret Njeri and 34 out of 92 MCAs from the county had signed the motion.
Njeri has claimed that Thang’wa mismanaged funds allocated to his ministry and that he is involved in politics.
Njeri further asserted that Thang’wa failed to provide information on issues arising from his department when asked by the assembly’s Committee on Youth, Sports and Social Service.
