The water company had disconnected supply to the facility that holds not less than 3,000 inmates over Sh7 million debt.

Water officials met with the prison’s management and agreed to restore water that was cut off early this month after the facility agreed to clear the debt before the year ends.

Company MD Nahashon Wahome who confirmed that they have restored water at the facility said government facilities in Naivasha were among those with big arrears.

Wahome said the government institutions in Naivasha town have made it hard for the water company to run its operations by failing to clear their arrears that run into millions of shillings.

“We've restored water services to Naivasha Prison and the staff quarters following an agreement with the management and we hope that this will be respected,” said Wahome as quoted by the-star.co.ke.

Wahome said they have launched operations in Naivasha that will ensure government facilities clear their arrears adding that KWS Training Institute was one of the institutions with a hefty debt.

“We have launched a campaign in and around Naivasha to collect dues owed to us and, this way, we shall definitely improve our services,” he added.
