Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has dismissed claims of engaging in a gold scam as reported by a local newspaper.
In a recent interview on Tuesday at Citizen TV, Wetangula claimed that the allegations were not true and were targeted to maim his name.
"I am not a Gold trader, I have never traded Gold and it is a non-issue in my life and has no bearing whatsoever. It is an issue that is neither academic nor realistic and I will not talk about it because it doesn't make sense to me. I am a lawyer by profession, I am a professional politician now and I do my things the right way," Wetangula said.
The senator also discredited a story published by a leading newspaper citing that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations was looking for him.
"Do you think If the DCI was looking for me they could not find me? Everybody knows where I live in Bungoma, everybody knows where I live in Nairobi and everyone knows where my law firm is in Nairobi. The DCI never said it was looking for me," Wetangula said.
Wetangula's name hit the headlines last year after an audio conversation with an audibly angry businessman over an alleged fake gold consignment emerged.
