Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has issued instructions on what should be done once the vehicle that plunged into the Indian Ocean is retrieved.
Speaking on Thursday, Oguna promised the public and members of the press that they will be allowed to take photos.
“Once the car is out it will be brought here for all of you to see. You will be allowed to take photos," he said.
However, he warned those who will take the pictures against close shots and excessive sharing.
"Please do not take close up shots (due to the sensitivity of the matter)...be sensitive to the family and the nation at large," Oguna stated.
He added that after the photographs, the police will take over the exercise and the necessary steps will be taken.
He also explained why the Thursday recovery mission did not start by 9 am as he had promised on Wednesday.
“Yesterday we promised to start the recovery operations by 9. However, we haven't started as we don't want to interfere with the transportation of people from Likoni to Mombasa. We will start when the number of people decreases. (Jana tulipatiana ahadi ya kwamba kufikia saa tatu tutakuwa tumeanza hiyo shuhudi lakini hadi sasa hatujaanza kwa sababu hatutaki kupunguza kasi ya wale ambao wanavuka Likoni kuja Mombasa. Tunasubiri idadi ya wale ambao wanasafiri ipungue ndio tuanze hiyo shughuli),” Oguna said in a presser.
