East Africa Legislative Assembly MP Dr Oburu Oginga has refuted claims that the Prime Minister (PM) post is being created for his younger brother Raila Odinga.
The Building Bridges Initiative team has recommended creation of a PM post, although as presented, he/she will be an appointee of the president.
However, there are ongoing calls to make the post strong by shifting from Presidential system to Parliamentary system.
On Wednesday, Dr Oburu said the post will not necessarily benefit Odinga.
According to him, Raila can still run for any seat, adding that he had served as Prime Minister before, thus the debate linking him to the seat is a misconception.
"You can't say that the PM post is being created for Raila Odinga. Raila can be anything. He has been a PM before and it is not a must that he becomes one again," he said.
According to Dr Oburu, Building Bridges Initiative report will help to end violent elections in future.
"We need to see a united country, put an end to the cycle of violence which is brought about by rigging of elections and push for creation of the position of an executive Prime Minister," Dr Odinga said.
