One person died early Thursday morning after a lorry and a bus collided near the Gilgil weighbridge, on the Naivasha-Nakuru highway.
Confirming the incident, Gilgil Traffic Police boss Robert Mugo said the lorry driver fled the scene after the accident.
He noted that seven people are nursing injuries, adding that a manhunt has been launched lorry driver who did not suffer any injuries during the 4am accident.
“We have started looking for him,” said Mugo as quoted by Nation.
Preliminary investigation by the police indicate the lorry driver might have dozed off, while driving on the busy highway, and veered off his lane, leading to the accident.
Passengers who suffered serious injuries were rushed to various hospitals within Gilgil, and are currently receiving treatment.
Alternative travel arrangements were made at the Gilgil Police Station for passengers who escaped unhurt.
