Besides Nairobi and Mombasa State Houses, other towns like Kisumu, Kakamega, Kitale, Nakuru, Sagana have small state lodges.

Most of them were constructed during the tenure of Founding father Jomo Kenyatta and retired President Daniel Moi. Mwai Kibaki built none.

Speaking in North Mugirango on Monday, Mrs Momanyi, who joined Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i's camp recently, said construction shall start next month.

"We want to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta through his minister Fred Matiang'i for agreeing to built a state Lodge in Gusii. Construction is set to start next month.

"This will help us to frequently meet the Head of State for serious consultations whenever he visits. We thank Dr Matiang'i for such a favour. We are all right behind him," she said.

Although Mrs Momanyi did not disclose the site, sources say that it's likely to be set at Simbauti Farm, which is a settlement scheme in Borabu constituency.

"I haven't gotten finer details but I am told it will be constructed at Simbauti Farm. This is due to the fact that the place is expensive and has a serene environment," said an aide to Matiang'i who did not wish to be mentioned.

The farm is located at least 5 kilometers from Matiang'i's Esise home in Borabu. The region is also surrounded by farms to senior Gusii politicians.
